Look What I Found in My Pantry

pantryThis is the glass of water that went missing at some point yesterday.  Looked all over and couldn’t find it.   This morning when I reached for the cereal, there was my water glass, sitting on the top shelf of the pantry like it belonged there.  I have no memory of putting it there.

ABSENTMINDEDNESS is what we call this, as if the mind were elsewhere, checked out, not on duty, phoning it in.  Yeah, that sounds right.  It occurs when life pulls us in so many directions that we are fully present to none of it.  It happens to all of us sometimes.  Life is like that.

Here are some things we can do to help…

1. Meditate.  Even if only for 3 minutes a day, it strengthens the brain’s ability to focus.  Keep it simple and don’t worry about “doing it right.”  Just do it.

2.Increase antioxidants.  Many studies show that high antioxidant foods dramatically improve learning and cognition.  Clinical studies on Ningxia wolfberry have shown that it has an anti-senility effect.

3. Use essential oils. Many oils cross the blood-brain barrier and directly affect the brain at a cellular level, bringing oxygen and removing waste buildup. The Essential Oils Desk Reference recommends these oils for absentmindedness:

Singles:  Peppermint, vetiver, frankincense, rosemary, basil, cardamom

Blends:  Clarity, M-Grain, Brain Power, Common Sense

Supplements: Ningxia Red, PD 80/20, OmegaGize, Master Formula HIS or HERS, Essentialzyme
